The Pineapple Slicer And A Grilled Pineapple Desert Recipie

Posted by Robin Buckley on

This is an easy yet lovely desert that is refreshing and delicious. But before we get to the desert, let's talk about the pineapple itself.  Often times when you first buy a pineapple it will not be ready to cut. How do you know when it is ready to cut? Look closely at the out side of the pineapple. Is it green? If it is green, then it is not ready to cut into.  Your pineapple should be golden.  I often need to let it sit on the countertop for a few days and let it ripen up before cutting into it.

When I am ready to cut into it I use our pineapple slicer that is available in our store.  This is one of the best tools out there for cutting pineapple.  Watch the video for a demonstration on how it works.  It is able to cut the pineapple into a spiral giving you perfect pineapple rings. It leaves the core behind and the outer part of the pineapple completely intact and away from the fruit. It is down right amazing. There is no mess and no cutting into the outside of the pineapple which is the worst part of getting to the fruit.

Once I have my perfect pineapple rings, I then place them on the grill just long enough to get those lovely grill marks. Take some moist pound cake and and place slices of that on the grill as well.  Place the pineapple on top of the grilled pound cake, top it off with a bit of fresh whipped cream and finish it with a caramel sauce.

Everyone will enjoy this desert.

Ingredients

Fresh Grilled Pineapple Pound Cake Dessert

1 Fresh Pineapple

1 Butter Pound Cake – Store Bought

Fresh Whip Cream – Recipe to Follow

 Caramel Sauce – Store Bought

Slice your fresh pineapple with the new pineapple slicer that you just purchased.  Follow the youtube video demo at andhecooks.com.

Grill your pineapple on a grill pan or BBQ grill until golden brown grill marks show up on each side of the pineapple rings.  Cut grilled pineapple rings into irregular shapes with a knife. As a side note, I use a Traeger and will take more about that later.

Cut your pound cake into ¾ inch slices.  Grill on both sides until golden brown.  It will only take about 30 seconds per side on a hot grill.  The pound cake will burn very quickly on a hot grill.

For the fresh whip cream take 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.  Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl and whip with a blender until firm peaks form in the cream.

To assemble your dessert take one slice of grilled pound cake and place it on a small plate.  Spoon two slices of grilled pineapple over the top of the pound cake.  Spoon a large dollop of whip cream over the top of the pineapple.  Drizzle with caramel sauce.

ENJOY!
